Tips For Choosing The Right Wall Art For Your Home

Tips For Choosing The Right Wall Art For Your Home - how do you choose which wall art is the right one for you? Well, here are some tips.

Having the right kind of art and pictures around you in your home can make all the difference to your mood. Did you know that 78% of people agree that art can reduce stress? Whilst others say that the art around you can make you more productive. Do you agree with these statements?

In these turbulent times when we are working from home more, it is therefore even more important to have the right kind of artwork in your home to create the calming and uplifting effect that we all need during these times of stress.

But what factors do you need to consider when choosing the right piece for your wall?

Choose A Piece That Reflects The Character Of Your Home

Is your home modern or a more traditional feel? Is your decor boho, vintage or contemporary? Then choose a piece that fits in well with your look.

For instance, my late 19th century home has a very muted colour palate. I have chosen neutral coloured walls and flooring to complement the vintage nature of the house’s fixtures and fittings. In my lounge, a modern piece of artwork would therefore look completely out of place.

However, in my bedroom, I had the walls plastered and decorated to give a more modern feel. A large vibrant piece of art would look great on the large expanse of wall above my bed.

Choose A Size That Fits

Similarly, it is so important to choose a size of artwork that fits in well with the space. A huge poster can make a small space look even smaller. And a tiny picture can be lost on a large expanse of wall.

Even a collection of eclectic art prints in non matching frames can work in the right setting. So it does sometimes pay to think about how you will display your new artwork in the space available to you.

Ask Yourself – How Does This Make Me Feel?

As I said at the top of this article, art can have a huge effect on your mood. So it is so important to choose pieces that give you a lift every time you see them. Do you want bright lights as a feel good factor? Maybe you should be looking to buy red neon signs or a light installation over a traditional piece of art.

Choose something that fits in with your personality, and says something about you as a person. It can be a huge talking point when guests visit, as they may not have even seen that side of you before!

What stirs you, inspires you or makes you happy? It can be a fun piece or a calming piece of art. We are all so different. But there are millions of pieces of wall art out there to choose from.

Choose What You Love

Finally, at the end of the day whatever you choose needs to be something that you absolutely love. And something that you will be happy looking at for many more years to come.

With such a massive choice of art, from prints to posters, from pencil drawings to whole tapestries, there is a massive world of wall art to explore. And you are sure to find something that speaks to you. It is just a matter of finding it.

What type of wall art would you choose?

These are all great tips! Right now I don’t have anything on my walls because of the renovation. I can’t wait to add something so they’re not so bare!
