Small Bathroom Ideas To Make The Space Seem Larger

Tips To Make A Small Bathroom Appear Larger

House prices are still rising fast, so many people are choosing to renovate over moving. But how do you restyle a very small bathroom? Here are some great ways to achieve the appearance of more space without really trying.

Remove The Bath

Although the word bath is in the title of the room, it does not mean that you actually need one in there! Removing the bath altogether may be a great option to maximising space in the smallest room. Especially if you rarely take baths and prefer showers in any case.

Get A Walk In Shower

A walk in shower is a luxurious addition to any bathroom. And can be a perfect way of making a tiny bathroom look more spacious. Making a wet room is even more space saving, as the shower cubicle is all but removed for a glass screen instead.

Try A Smaller Hip Bath

Can’t abide the thought of losing your bath yet don’t have much room? Then why not try a hip bath instead? These deep and yet smaller sized baths can look incredibly elegant, yet be really space saving. And they come in both modern and classic styles, so you should be able to find one to fit your taste and budget.

Use A Smaller Basin

A full size basin can take up a lot of space in the bathroom. And there is no rule that says you actually really need a full standard sink. If you feel that you can manage, then why not consider getting a smaller, even half sized basin instead? It does exactly the same job, but for a lot less space.

And you can even find corner sinks, which can be a really useful way of space saving in a smaller room.

Utilise Tiling

The tiles you choose in the room can make all the difference. To maximise the appearance of space, full tiling of the room with porcelain bathroom tiles is a perfect choice. The reflective gloss surface of tiling can really create the impression of maximum space in a small room.

Smaller tiles such as mosaic effect tiling can also really help to make the room appear larger.

Tips To Make A Small Bathroom Appear Larger

Use Light And Bright Styling

For the maximum appearance of more space, do stick to light colours and bright styles in the room. Light colours do make the room appear larger, even in the smallest of spaces.

And as with the tiles, using sating or sheen finishes to painted surfaces can help reflect light into the room. Again this lightness and brightness gives the impression of a larger area.

Install Mirrors To Mimic The Appearance Of Space

Similarly, using large mirrors or even making a whole section of wall mirrored can give the appearance of space where there is none.

Back lit mirrors may also help to give the appearance of a larger space.

Keep Clean Lines And Simple

Keeping the design of the bathroom suite and fixtures simple with clean lines can also make the room appear larger.

Get Creative With Your Storage

Utilise all the space wisely when planning your perfect small bathroom. Use cupboard space under the basin, and consider wall mounted shelves and ledges for storing your towels and toiletries.

Reduce The Clutter

And finally, do keep the smallest bathroom clutter free. The more cluttered and untidy a room is, the smaller it looks. So keeping the room clear of strewn towels, a muddle of bottles and heaps of bottles is definitely a great way to ensuring that space looks to be at maximum.

All these tips will help you to appear to have a much larger bathroom, and turn a tiny space into a wonderfully calm haven of relaxation.
