Real Grass vs Artificial Grass: Which one is the best for your home?
Nowadays, people have become so much busier with their work and their personal lives. Balancing their work, social life, and family is not that easy. With the right combination of time management, you can buy a house without sacrificing your social life. But of course, maintaining the house is another story. It needs intensive planning since you are going to invest a huge amount of money.
One of the key parts if you want to make your house look like a grandiose one is your lawn. Having a green lawn is neat. But of course, you don’t want to be exhausted with all the mowing and watering, do you? Well, maybe it’s time for you to consider installing an artificial grass. Although real grass is natural, it will cost you a lot of effort and time when it comes to maintenance. Alternatively, artificial grass is not totally maintenance-free. But it takes much less than real grass to maintain, and is more expensive initially. You will need to invest in it too. At the end of the day, both type of grasses can have their own advantages and disadvantages when it comes to different aspects.

In terms of maintenance, real grass lawns need a lot of watering, fertilizing, mowing every now and then especially during summer season. This is to avoid the grass from drying up. Aside from that, you also need to rake the leaves from the trees when fall season arrives. Whilst real grass requires maximum care, artificial grass offers a much lower care option. Since it is artificial, you don’t need to mow, water, and fertilize it. But of course, you may want to rake falling debris like leaves off your lawn once in a while. Aside from that, you can always splash off the dirt using your hose. Also, regularly comb your lawn to retain that natural look even though it is artificial.
If you really want to mimic the feel of a real grass. You need to invest on artificial grass. Most artificial grass that has real-grass-like feeling is expensive. Another thing is that artificial grass, according to some owners, produces unnecessary noise when being stepped in to.

Although artificial grass requires a huge amount of money upon installation, it won’t burn your wallet in the long run since it doesn’t require regular mowing, watering, and fertilizing. Plus, artificial grass can last up to 20 years. But artificial grass installation does require a lot of work and manpower initially since you need to dig your backyard and put some sand and rubber pellets there. Real grass on the other hand will cost you more since it will require regular fertilization and mowing.
When it comes to their environmental impacts, both have their advantages. Real grass uses pesticides and fertilizers which can be toxic. Aside from that mowers and grass cutters can actually worsen the air and noise pollution. But real grass can help your house feel cooler and decrease the humidity.
Artificial grass is made up of recycled materials but it is not biodegradable meaning it does not decompose. It can also absorb heat. That may urge you to use the air conditioner.

I’m passionate about everything natural, so my choice would definitely be real grass. It’s better for the environment, too.
Thanks for the information about artificial turf! I would be sure to ask a professional about the pros and cons of each. I am seriously thinking about installing turf in my yard. This will reduce my water bill.
