When you first started going to trade shows and industry exhibitions spaces, you likely had to invest in an exhibition stand. It probably served your needs at the time, but as the years have gone by, you may be wondering whether it’s time to invest in an upgrade.
There’s no strict timeline that dictates how long an exhibition stand design will last. Instead, you’ll have to answer the following questions, to determine whether your existing stand is still up to the job.
*This is a collaborative post.

Has your brand changed?
When attending trade shows, your exhibition stand is more than just a physical space to meet people in. It is also likely the most prominent physical representation of your brand that people will come into contact with in that space, and it’s important that your brand accurately and effectively represents your brand image.
If your brand has changed somewhat since you invested in your original exhibition stand, then it’s possible that you’ll need to upgrade your stand to reflect those changes.
Has your business grown?
Another potential change that could suggest the need for a stand upgrade would be if you’ve seen significant business growth in recent years.
It could be that you now have a much larger range of products and services that need to be shown off, or you may now need to host more guests with more company reps.
Regardless of the reason, if your existing exhibition stand is no longer quite up to scratch, it could be hampering your business’s growth and limiting the impact that you have by attending exhibition trade shows.
Are you seeking technological integration?
One specific area of exhibition stand design that has advanced rapidly in recent years is technological integration. From AR and VR to adaptive screens, there are a growing number of creative ways to engage people in exhibition stands.
Often, you will need a stand that has been designed by a company like Focal Exhibitions with these technologies in mind in order to effectively integrate them. It’s a bit of a waste to invest in expensive technologies, just to tack them on like an afterthought.
Is your stand looking tired?
Lastly, if you’ve had your current stand for a while, there’s a possibility that it will have started to look a little tired and battered. There’s only so much that you can do with sandpaper and paint, and at some point, you might find that your old, tatty stand is dragging your brand perception down a little.
If you’re already investing so much in trade show attendance, it simply doesn’t make sense to cut corners when it comes to how you present yourself at these shows.
As you can see, there’s no strict timeline that dictates exactly when you should replace or upgrade your exhibition stand. Rather, you should think about whether or not your current stand is as effective at helping you meet your trade show goals as you need it to be. If it’s not, then it’s time for a new one.
