So are you ready for an easy sewing tutorial on how to make a key fob wristlet for yourself? Then let’s go!
How To Sew A Key Fob Wristlet – You Will Need
- Fabric – I prefer cotton fabric
- Interfacing – to stiffen up the fabric, though if you are using a cotton canvas this may not be needed
- Key Fob Hardware – find those here
- A sewing machine, coordinating thread, pins or clips, ruler, scissors and a rotary cutter.
- Pliers to place your key fob hardware.
How To Make The Key Fob Wristlet
Cut a piece of fabric 12 inches by 4 inches. Cut a piece of interfacing the same size.
Iron the interfacing onto the wrong side of the fabric.
Iron the wrong sides of the fabric together to create a fold lengthways down the centre of the piece of fabric. Then fold the 2 raw long edges into the centre and iron the folds again. This creates 4 equal long thin sections of the fabric.
Fold the raw edges to the centre, then fold the whole thing in half, thus creating a piece of material that measures 1inch by 12 inches, and is sturdy. Take this to your sewing machine.
Sew a small seam allowance down each side of your material.
Next step in this DIY key fob tutorial you need to add the hardware. Fold the material in half and use the pliers to close the key fob hardware onto the raw ends of the strip. I sometimes use some fabric glue just to really secure the key ring wristlet hardware. This creates the wristlet strap keychain.
Add your keys and enjoy!
