Choosing the Right Destination For Your 2022 Getaway

The good news is that thanks to global vaccinations, most countries are now allowing travel for the sake of tourism and a holiday is a completely feasible option once more. Now, actually planning a holiday takes a lot of thought and effort. You can’t just get up, grab your passport and go. Instead, you’re going to have to mull over the decision, taking all sorts of factors into mind. Here are some suggestions that will help you to achieve this, planning the best holiday you can to meet all of your needs and preferences.

Where Can You Travel?

First, you need to consider where you can and can’t currently travel. Many countries are still limiting access in a bid to protect their populations. Some have strict entry requirements that need you to be vaccinated, so if you are unvaccinated or haven’t yet received your full course of vaccinations, you may not be able to cross their broders. Some countries will allow you in without a full vaccination record, but you will have to complete a PCR test within a certain amount of time of entering the country. Make sure to thoroughly look into the travel and entry requirements of any country you’re considering visiting. This will give you a chance to see what is required to head there, whether you already tick the boxes, whether you have to order tests or whether you want to consider getting vaccinated in order to visit the country later in the year.

Time of Travel

You may be limited to what time you can travel. Perhaps you have a job where you are only able to leave at certain times of the year, for example, you may be a teacher and can only take a trip during school breaks during certain weeks of the year. Maybe you want to travel for an occasion, such as celebrating a milestone birthday during a certain month.

The time of travel can greatly impact your travel decisions, as locations you’re considering may be out of season, facing their rainy season or be located in a hurricane or monsoon belt that is a threat during certain times of the year. Consider the month you’d like to travel and research the temperature and climate of the location you’re considering going. This will help you to find an option that has optimal weather or climate conditions. If you’re looking to travel during a quieter time, you may also want to consider travelling slightly out of season. Or purposefully avoiding times with cultural events or attractions drawing in a lot of tourists. For example, if you want to visit Rio de Janeiro but hate crowds, you should avoid visiting in February when Carnival draws in thousands of other tourists.

Distance and Type of Travel

If you’re heading out of the country, chances are, you’re going to need to try out some different types of travel. Consider what suits you. There’s no point booking a trip to Australia on the other side of the world if you hate flying. Short haul flights, rail, ferries and more are all feasible options to closer destinations. Try them out!

Type of Trip

Consider what type of trip you’d like to enjoy. There are so many different types of getaway you can engage with that it’s worth considering all of the options that are available to you. Looking for rest and relaxation in a sunny climate? A beach holiday to a seaside town or resort could tick all of your boxes. Want to keep costs low and spend some time in an alternative form of accommodation? Consider a camper van holiday at https://www.parkholidays.com/our-parks/devon/caravan-holidays.

Do you want to see a lot of famous art, historical buildings, museums cultural landmarks and more? A city break could be better suited to you. Enjoy extreme sports or winter sports? Take a look at some ski resorts or locations with activities like skydiving, bungee jumping or off road jeep driving. There are endless sorts of trips out there and only you can know which will best suit you.

Accommodation

Of course, you’re going to need somewhere to stay during your trip. Accommodation can play different roles in a getaway. It can be the main attraction – a space where you spend a lot of time, make use of the spa and facilities and enjoy room service. It could just be a space to get your head down at night. If you actually tend to get up at the crack of dawn to leave and only return home at night. Different types of accommodation suit different needs, so take some time to assess what you need from yours.

A luxury hotel is ideal for those looking for a relaxing and comfortable break in a new location. A caravan or camping is ideal for those who want to spend more time out in nature. An apartment or villa are good if you want to cut costs by making your own food, or if you want facilities to easily wash your own clothes – a home away from home. An all inclusive hotel will better suit you if you want a complete break. If you don’t want to have to think about cooking or cleaning for a while. Most destinations have all of these types of accommodation on offer. So look around and see if any suit your needs in the location you’ve chosen.

As you can see, there’s a lot of planning that will come into play when it comes to choosing the right destination for this year’s trip. Hopefully, some will suit you perfectly!
