Welcome to my Blogmas posts! This year I am going to take you through advent into Christmas and the New Year with a new post every day. I am going to share with you the best things of the festive season, and get you firmly into the party mood. I hope. So here is the 2nd of December in my Rose Tinted Advent Calendar.

2nd of December

Where is the Elf?

2nd of December - elf on the tree

Aw look, theres our lovely little tree that we decorated yesterday. But hey! The mischievous elf decided she was going to climb up, and now she is hanging from the branches. Better get her down before she falls!

She wanted to hang the advent bag on the tree, so she says…

The Advent Bag

The advent bag today has a small sugar figurine, because today we are decorating our gingerbread house.

I would love to say that I make and bake my own gingerbread pieces, but I don’t. Maybe one day, when I can make them without burning them like I did with the Halloween cookies! So this year I tried this gingerbread house kit that you can assemble, ice and decorate.

This is what comes inside the kit that I bought this year. The only thing needed is egg white and a few drops of lemon juice, as the kit already comes with the icing sugar and decorations needed to assemble and decorate.

You whip an egg white, add the icing sugar and lemon juice, and it becomes the cement to assemble and decorate the house. It was really easy to put together.  I assembled the house and let Elizabeth decorate it once the icing had hardened enough. I used some extra tubes of coloured icing from my baking cupboard.

2nd of December - E decorating the House

Elizabeth really enjoyed decorating the house with the sweets. A few did get eaten along the way, but there were still plenty!

I think that she did a great job decorating! And she was counting the sweets and telling me the colours all the while. I love our little gingerbread house, and it has become one of the traditions that I like to do each year. It’s lovely to share this activity with my little girl.

Music Of The Day

Today’s music is one of my absolute favourites, and also one of the favourites of fellow blogger Cat from PushingTheMoon.com . It was recently used as a John Lewis advert (which is also a great version) but nothing really beats the orchestral original of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. And the video is perfect for the first Sunday of Advent.

I hope that you have had a lovely 2nd of December? Do you have a gingerbread house this year? I’d love to hear your comments, or do holler at me on social media.

Enjoyed this? Why not read about how I made some of my other decorations in Christmas Pom-Pom Crafts, or A Festive Rag Wreath?

I would certainly recommend a kit over baking from scratch!

My children aren’t fans of gingerbread so luckily I’ve never had to face the frustration of building a festive gingerbread house!
