Whilst I love to organise and sort out all my possessions, I realise that in recent years I have fallen behind on my trying to keep my home decluttered and tidy. In 2019 I tried having a year to clear, and I was pretty successful, but things have gone backwards – so I have set myself a 2023 declutter challenge. Can I declutter 2023 items from my life in 2023?

2023 Declutter Challenge

I’ve said this many times before. I just have too much stuff. And all the stuff that I accumulate leads to stress.

Even though I regularly sort out my cupboards and closets, to be honest I mainly end up just moving all the stuff around. And the piles of clutter are growing since having my child, as there is a never ending stream of toys and clothes. So I have decided to make a stand.

I’m Going To Try And Clear 2023 Items From My Home

I am going to make a vow to try and clear out 2023 items from my home. This equates to clearing out about 5-6 items a day, which I think is a perfectly attainable goal.

In addition to this, I have made some rules.

  1. Buy less. To be fair, I do tend to buy more second hand, and have reduced my spending a lot, but I am going to try to buy even less this year.
  2. For every item I buy, I will get rid of 5 things in my house in addition to the 2023 challenge.
  3. To stop me feeling overwhelmed (which can be an issue) I will stick to 1 small area each time I declutter.

Will I do it? Follow along with me. And to help me achieve this, I have set up a FREE printable that you can download too.

Each small square equates to ONE thing decluttered. As I declutter I will colour in the squares, and my aim is to fill the whole sheet by the end of the year.

Great advice. I am about to get started on decluttering the bathroom before decorating it and I will then move on to the kitchen, the cupboards are out of control! x

The bathroom is a great place to start. I did a little bit over the Christmas holidays, but my house is such a mess that this is totally needed!

We always spend the week between Christmas and New Years getting rid of a bunch of stuff. I don’t think I have 2023 things to get rid of though! #pocolo

its nice to start the year afresh isn’t it? I think I’ll still have a long way to go even if I get rid of 2023 things!
